Semahat Arsel Nursing Education, Practice, and Research Center (SANERC), established on December 21, 1992, under the leadership of Ms. Semahat Arsel, is the first education and research center in Turkey to provide post-graduate education to nurses. The center aims to enhance the quality of nursing care services by providing continuous professional development for nurses through national and international level training, certified courses, and scientific activities; conducting and supporting clinical research and monitoring its results; developing evidence-based care protocols, guidelines, and educational materials; and collaborating with all relevant institutions and organizations.

Reconstructed in accordance with the “Regulation for the Establishment of SANERC by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK),” SANERC gained the status of a center affiliated with Koç University Rectorate with the enactment of the principles published in the Official Gazette dated November 17, 2019. SANERC has been conducting its educational programs at international standards since 2010 with accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). SANERC is the only center in Turkey with international accreditation. Additionally, within the framework of the Vehbi Koç Foundation Nursing Fund Project Support Program, SANERC continues to financially support nurses to produce science and contribute to the development of nursing and science by regularly publishing the Journal of Education and Research in Nursing.

SANERC, since its establishment, has been continuously working to contribute to the Turkish people receiving higher quality care by providing leadership at national and international levels and striving for continuous improvement. It aims to support the professional development of nurses at national and international levels with a lifelong learning and equal opportunity in education approach and to reach wider audiences.
